Man, Street Fighter II Next Generation on SNES still holds up. You pick your fighter—Chun-Li’s lightning kicks, Ryu’s fireballs, Blanka’s weird electric roll thing—and suddenly you’re in this pixel-perfect brawl where every punch feels like it matters. The controls are tight, but not so easy that you’ll master it in one sitting. I remember getting wrecked by the CPU at first until I figured out the timing for combos.
What’s cool is how each character actually feels different—Zangief’s slow but brutal grapples versus Dhalsim’s stretchy limbs and fire breath. And that announcer yelling “FIGHT!” never gets old. If you’ve got a buddy, the versus mode turns into an all-night trash-talking session. Just don’t throw your controller when someone spams Hadoukens.
It’s one of those games where you lose track of time because “one more round” turns into twenty. Still the king of 16-bit fighters.
