Man, Street Fighter II Black Belt Edition on SNES takes me back—this was the version I wore out as a kid. You boot it up, and boom, that pixelated Capcom logo hits with the same crunchy sound effect from the arcade. Chun-Li’s spinning bird kick still feels weirdly satisfying to land, and Ryu’s fireball timing? Slightly tighter than I remembered.
It’s got all the original fighters, but something about the Black Belt Edition just feels different—like the AI reads your inputs just enough to keep you sweating. I swear, Vega’s claw attacks come out faster here. The music’s all MIDI glory, though, especially that stage theme when you fight Balrog in the casino.
If you’ve got a buddy around, it’s chaos. My cousin and I still argue about whether Guile’s flash kick is cheap (it is). The sprite animations hold up, too—watch Zangief’s muscles ripple when he does a piledriver. This version’s a time capsule, but good luck putting it down after one match.
