Super Mario Kart on SNES is the one that started it all—the tight controls, the banana peels, that perfect drift mechanic. You pick your racer (Toad’s my go-to, even if he’s a little light for bumping Koopas off the track), then it’s straight into Mushroom Cup chaos. The tracks feel tiny now compared to modern racers, but dodging shells on Rainbow Road while the music kicks in? Still unbeatable.
And yeah, the graphics are pixelated as hell, but that’s part of the charm. You’ll memorize every shortcut by accident after a few races. Just don’t get cocky—that last lap blue shell betrayal is a classic for a reason.
