Street Fighter II New Moves Edition Japan on SNES is basically the classic we all love, but with some sneaky little upgrades. The first thing you’ll notice is the extra moves—Ryu’s got this new fake-out fireball, and Chun-Li can chain kicks in ways that feel borderline illegal. It’s still the same pixel-perfect chaos, just with a few more tricks up its sleeve.
I remember booting it up and immediately getting wrecked by the CPU because I kept forgetting about the new inputs. The roster’s all here—Dhalsim stretching across the screen, Zangief’s terrifying spin—but matches feel fresher when you realize Guile can cancel his flash kick into a super. It’s not a full remake, more like someone tweaked the arcade cabinet while you weren’t looking.
If you’ve played the original to death, this version’s worth a round or twenty. Just don’t blame me when you lose to a surprise Balrog combo you’ve never seen before.
