Man, X-Men Vs. Street Fighter on SNES is such a wild mashup—like someone threw a comic book and an arcade cabinet into a blender. You pick two characters (Ryu and Wolverine? Cyclops and Chun-Li? Go nuts), and then it’s just pure chaos. The sprites are chunky in that classic 90s way, but the moves feel surprisingly smooth once you get the hang of it.
I remember my first match—accidentally button-mashed my way into a team super combo and nearly fell off the couch. The roster’s smaller than the arcade version, but you still get that ridiculous crossover energy. Also, shoutout to the SNES sound chip doing its best with the theme music. It’s janky, but in a charming way.
If you’ve ever wanted to see Gambit throw a playing card at Dhalsim’s stretchy limbs, this is your game.
