Alright, so TMNT on NES—classic beat 'em up, but way harder than you'd expect. You start with all four turtles, and yeah, you can switch between them anytime. At first glance, they seem the same, but their weapons make a huge difference. Donnie’s bo staff hits like a truck and has crazy range, but man, it’s slow. Meanwhile, Raph’s sais are quick but leave you way too close to enemies. You’ll figure out your favorite fast.

The first few levels take you through sewers and warehouses, fighting Foot Soldiers and some seriously weird enemies (chainsaw guys? Rat Kings? Sure, why not). The overworld map makes it feel like you’re actually moving through the city, which was pretty cool for the time. But here’s the kicker: each turtle is basically a life, and you only get two continues. Lose all four, and it’s back to the start. Oh, and later on, you’ll have to rescue your buddies if they get captured—no pressure.

It’s fun, but good luck making it past the underwater dam level without screaming. That part alone is responsible for a thousand broken controllers.
