Chrono Trigger on DS is one of those rare RPGs that just nails everything—story, combat, even the soundtrack. You start off at a medieval fair, mess around with some time travel, and suddenly you're hopping between eras fixing disasters before they happen. The battles are snappy turn-based affairs where positioning actually matters, and the combo attacks between party members? So satisfying.
What really gets me is how your choices ripple across time—little things you do in the past change entire futures. I remember accidentally screwing up one timeline and actually feeling guilty about it. Also, the DS version adds some slick touchscreen menus and an extra dungeon, though the original pixel art still looks gorgeous.
If you've never played it, this is basically the gold standard for how to do a time-travel story in games without making it a confusing mess.
