Rhythm Heaven on the DS is one of those games that looks simple until you actually try it. You tap, flick, and hold to the beat across a bunch of weird little minigames—some have you playing air guitar with a monkey, others have you tossing tomatoes at a singing onion. Sounds ridiculous? It is, in the best way.
The music’s stupidly catchy, and the timing is way stricter than you’d expect. Miss a beat and your character flubs it in the most exaggerated way possible, which somehow makes failing just as funny as nailing a perfect run. The art style’s got this clean, cartoony look that makes everything pop, even on the DS’s tiny screen.
It’s the kind of game you pick up for five minutes and end up playing for an hour because you just need to get that one minigame right. And when you do? Pure satisfaction.
