About Inazuma Eleven
Inazuma Eleven came out for the Nintendo DS in 2008, developed by Level-5. It was part of that era on the DS where you saw a lot of creative ideas, especially in Japan, and this one mixed soccer with a full RPG structure. You don't just play matches; you explore the world from a top-down perspective, talking to other students and uncovering a story that starts small but gets surprisingly big.
You control Mark Evans, the passionate goalkeeper and captain of the Raimon soccer team. Your main goal is to recruit new players and strengthen your team to compete in the Football Frontier tournament. The gameplay splits between exploring the school and town, where you find hidden players and items, and the soccer matches themselves. The matches are the core, played on the touch screen where you draw paths for your players to run and tap on the ball to execute special moves. These moves, like Fire Tornado or Dragon Crash, use TP and feel like using spells in a battle. The pacing is brisk, with frequent, short matches that keep you engaged, though some recruitment goals can slow things down if you get stuck. It feels like you are building a community as much as a sports team, and pulling off a last-minute hissatsu technique to score a goal is a genuine rush.
