Captain Planet & The Planeteers on Sega Genesis is one of those weirdly charming licensed games from the '90s that actually tries to do something different. You start off picking between the Planeteers—each with their own elemental power—and honestly, I always went with Wheeler first because throwing fireballs just felt right.
The levels are surprisingly varied for a cartoon tie-in. One minute you're jumping through a polluted city, the next you're dodging toxic waste in some industrial nightmare. The puzzles are simple but satisfying, like using Kwame's vines to swing over gaps or Ma-Ti's heart power to... well, honestly, that one was kinda useless. Captain Planet shows up as your super move, and yeah, it's as ridiculous as you'd hope.
It's janky in that classic Genesis way, but there's something endearing about how hard it commits to the eco-message. You'll either love it for the nostalgia or hate it for the clunky platforming—no in-between. Still, blasting polluters with wind powers never gets old.
