In the game, you control Po the panda, moving through levels by running, jumping, and using his basic kung fu attacks to defeat groups of enemies like the wolf gang. The main goal is to stop Lord Shen and his new weapon from conquering China. A couple of mechanics stand out: you build up a chi meter by hitting foes, which you can then spend to unleash a more powerful area attack to clear the screen. You also find collectible scrolls hidden in the stages, and there are occasional mini games that break up the action. The pacing is fairly quick, with levels that scroll automatically at times, and the difficulty can spike during some of the boss encounters. It feels like a straightforward brawler that captures the energy of the movie in a simple, button mashing way.
