Oh man, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie on Sega Genesis—talk about a nostalgia trip. You start off smashing through waves of Putties as the Rangers, switching between them on the fly (Jason’s sword slashes feel way heavier than Billy’s staff, by the way). The levels follow the movie’s plot, so you’re fighting Ivan Ooze’s goons in weirdly detailed cityscapes before hopping into the Zords for some clunky-but-satisfying giant robot fights.

The graphics are surprisingly decent for a licensed game from ‘95—lots of bright colors and those cheesy cutscenes ripped straight from the film. The music? Pure 90s synth-rock cheese, and I mean that in the best way. It’s not the deepest beat-’em-up out there, but there’s something weirdly fun about how over-the-top it all is. Just don’t expect the combat to hold up like Streets of Rage.

If you played this as a kid, it’ll hit you right in the childhood. If not, it’s a goofy, janky time capsule of the Power Rangers at their peak.
