Bandai released Mighty Morphin Power Rangers for the Sega Genesis in 1994. It was one of many games from that period trying to capture the energy of a popular TV show on a 16-bit console. You control one of the five Rangers, each with a unique weapon like a power axe or bow. The main goal is to fight through Rita Repulsa's minions across several side-scrolling stages to reach a boss. A signature mechanic is the ability to switch between your current Ranger and the others at any time, which is useful because some enemies are weaker to specific weapons. Another key feature is that defeating enough enemies fills a meter, allowing you to summon and pilot the giant Megazord for a first-person battle against a monster. The game moves at a fast pace, but the difficulty can spike sharply, especially during platforming sections. It feels like a straightforward arcade brawler that relies heavily on your reflexes and quick switching to succeed.
