Man, Spider-Man and the X-Men: Arcade's Revenge is one of those early 90s beat-em-ups that looked amazing in magazines but played like a brick to the face. You get to switch between Spidey, Wolverine, Storm, and Gambit—which sounds awesome until you realize each level feels like it was designed by someone who hated fun.
First thing you notice? The controls are stiff, the jumps are weirdly floaty, and Arcade—the guy who usually just builds death traps—somehow turns into this unstoppable mastermind. One minute you're webbing up robots, the next you're getting wrecked by cheap hits in Gambit's weird platforming section. And don't even get me started on the infamous bike chase level.
It's got that classic Genesis vibe with bright colors and chunky sprites, but man, it's rough. You'll either love it for the nostalgia or hate it for how unfairly hard it gets. Either way, it's a weird little time capsule of superhero games before they figured out how to make them actually good.
