Super Mario 64 DS is basically the N64 classic, but now you can take it anywhere—and honestly, it’s way better than it had any right to be on the DS. The graphics got a nice little polish, and suddenly you’re not just stuck as Mario. You can switch between him, Luigi, Wario, and Yoshi, each with their own weird little quirks (Luigi’s flutter jump is ridiculous in the best way).
First 10 minutes? You’re thrown into Peach’s castle like always, but now there’s this weird touchscreen minigame thing that feels a bit forced—still, the core gameplay is just as good as you remember. Running around, collecting stars, accidentally yeeting yourself off cliffs because the DS circle pad isn’t quite the same as an N64 stick… classic.
If you missed this one back in the day, it’s a solid way to replay Mario 64 with some extra spice. Just don’t blame me when you lose hours chasing that last star.
