Yoshi’s Island DS is one of those sequels that actually gets it right—same cozy, pastel art style as the original, but with a twist. Instead of just carrying Baby Mario, you’ve got a whole crew of babies to swap between, and each one changes how you play. Baby Peach floats like a feather, Baby DK swings from vines, and Baby Wario… well, he’s weirdly good at finding hidden stuff.
The levels are packed with little secrets and those annoying-but-fun egg-throwing puzzles Yoshi’s known for. At first, I kept forgetting to switch babies mid-level, but once it clicks, you start seeing how the game nudges you to experiment. Also, the music’s still stupidly catchy—good luck getting that main theme out of your head.
If you liked the SNES version, this one’s a no-brainer. Just don’t blame me when you spend half an hour replaying a stage because you missed one red coin.
