Shinobi III is one of those Genesis games that just feels right the moment you start playing. You jump in as Joe Musashi, slashing through enemies with your sword, tossing shurikens like they're going out of style, and pulling off wall jumps that still feel smooth decades later. The first level throws you straight into the action—ninjas popping out of nowhere, gun-toting goons, and these weird crab enemies that somehow fit right in.
The controls are tight, the music slaps (that electric guitar in the first stage is pure '90s energy), and the difficulty? Oh, it’s there. You’ll die a few times figuring out the timing on those spinning blade traps, but when you finally nail a perfect run, it’s so satisfying. And the bosses? Huge, screen-filling monsters that actually make you think instead of just button-mashing.
It’s not just nostalgia—this one holds up. If you’ve ever wanted to feel like a cyber-ninja flipping through laser grids and slicing robots in half, this is your game.
