Samurai Spirits on the Genesis is one of those fighting games that just feels different—no fireballs, no flashy super moves, just clean, brutal swordplay where one good slash can end a match. The first thing you'll notice is how heavy the characters move, each step deliberate, like you're really controlling a samurai weighing their options before striking.
I remember picking Haohmaru at first because, well, dude's got a giant sword—how could you not? But after getting wrecked a few times, I switched to Galford and his sneaky dog attacks. The roster's small but each fighter forces you to play completely differently, which I love. And that "rage" mechanic? Nothing like landing a desperation slash when you're down to a sliver of health.
It's not as fast as Street Fighter, and the controls take some getting used to if you're used to modern fighters. But there's something about the tension in every match—one wrong move and you're done. Still holds up if you're into methodical, high-stakes duels.
