Okay, so James Bond Jr. on SNES is one of those weird licensed games that somehow works. You play as Bond’s nephew (yeah, that’s a thing) sneaking through levels packed with guards, lasers, and the occasional exploding pen—because of course there’s an exploding pen. The controls are a little stiff, but once you get used to the slide-and-shoot rhythm, it’s oddly satisfying.
First level drops you right into a mansion full of goons, and you’ve got this weird mix of platforming and stealth—like if Mario tried to be Solid Snake. The gadgets help, though half the time I just ended up punching everyone because the throwing knives felt weirdly delayed. And the music? Surprisingly tense for a kids’ cartoon tie-in.
It’s not GoldenEye, but if you’re into janky ‘90s action with a side of ridiculous spy tropes, this one’s a fun time capsule. Just don’t expect Q to explain how any of this makes sense.
