Granada is one of those Genesis games that makes you wonder why more people don’t talk about it. You hop into this beefy tank—feels like driving a brick with a cannon—and just blast through waves of enemies in these open, arena-like stages. The controls are simple (move, shoot, strafe), but the chaos ramps up fast.
What I love is how the game forces you to think on the fly. You can’t just bulldoze through—enemies swarm from all sides, and your tank turns slower than a shopping cart with a busted wheel. The first time I played, I got wrecked because I didn’t realize how much positioning matters. Dodging feels clunky at first, but once you get the rhythm, weaving between shots while lining up your own feels weirdly satisfying.
Also, the soundtrack slaps. It’s got that classic Genesis bass growl, all crunchy and urgent, which fits perfectly when you’re surrounded by five tanks and a helicopter. If you dig old-school shooters that don’t hold your hand, Granada’s worth a shot. Just don’t blame me when you get stuck replaying the first stage trying to beat your high score.
