F-22 Interceptor on the Genesis is one of those flight sims that feels arcade-y enough to pick up fast but still nails that "I’m actually flying a jet" vibe. You start off with a quick briefing—nothing fancy, just "here’s your target, don’t crash"—and then you’re in the cockpit. The first thing you’ll notice? The controls are surprisingly smooth for a 16-bit game. Banking left feels weighty, and pulling off a tight turn without blacking out takes some practice.

Enemy planes pop up fast, and the dogfights get chaotic in the best way. The radar helps, but half the time you’re just spinning around trying to spot that tiny pixelated MiG before it nails you with a missile. And yeah, the ground targets? Way harder to hit than they look. I spent my first few runs either overshooting or slamming into the ground like an overenthusiastic lawn dart.

It’s not the deepest sim out there, but for a quick blast of high-speed aerial combat, it holds up. Just don’t expect to land the plane—turns out the game skips that part entirely.
