Dynamite Duke is one of those early Genesis games that feels like it never got enough love. You play as this beefed-up commando blasting through waves of enemies—some on foot, some in jeeps—while dodging bullets that come at you way faster than you'd expect. The first level throws you right into it with guys popping out from behind crates, and if you're not quick with the trigger, you'll be staring at the continue screen before the music even kicks in.

The controls take a second to click—you move with the D-pad but aim with the buttons, which feels weird until you realize you can strafe by holding diagonals. Once it clicks though? Pure arcade chaos. The bosses are ridiculous in the best way—one minute you're fighting a helicopter, the next some giant mech thing stomping around. And that soundtrack? Cheesy synth beats that somehow make getting swarmed by soldiers feel awesome.

It's not perfect—some hit detection feels janky, and good luck beating it without memorizing spawn points—but that's part of the charm. If you dig run-and-gun games that don't hold your hand, this one's worth dusting off.
