About Crystal Mines
Crystal Mines came out in 1989 for the Nintendo Entertainment System, published by Color Dreams. It was one of many games from that era trying to carve out a space on the platform, offering a specific kind of methodical challenge.
You control a small robot, sent to mine crystals on a distant planet. Your main job is to dig through dirt and rock with energy balls, collecting a set number of crystals on each floor to make the exit appear. You have to manage falling rocks that can crush you and avoid or eliminate various alien creatures. The pace is slow and deliberate, demanding careful planning for every move you make. It feels like a tense, solitary puzzle where one wrong step can undo your progress.
