Superman on NES is one of those weird licensed games that feels like it was made by people who only vaguely knew the character. You’re flying through side-scrolling stages punching robots and dodging lasers, which sounds cool—except Superman moves like he’s stuck in molasses. The controls are stiff, and half the time you’re just trying not to bump into walls.
There’s this weird mix of flying sections and awkward platforming where you suddenly forget you can, y’know, fly. The graphics are decent for the time, but some enemies look like they were scribbled in last-minute. Still, if you’re into retro oddities or just love Superman no matter what, it’s got a weird charm. Just don’t expect it to feel like actually being the Man of Steel.
