T&C Surf Designs came out in 1988 for the Nintendo Entertainment System, published by Atlus. It was part of that wave of games trying to capture the California surf and skate culture right in your living room. You would see it on the shelf next to other bright, cartoonish boxes, promising a mix of sports and action.

You control a surfer or skater, switching between two main sidescrolling stages. On land, you skateboard, trying to perform tricks and avoid obstacles like rocks and dogs. On water, you surf, riding waves and attempting to stay on your board as long as possible. The main objective is simply to survive and score points in these endless, looping courses. The game is known for its sudden difficulty; one wrong move sends you tumbling. It feels unpredictable and a little chaotic, like you are constantly fighting the controls just to stay upright.
