Ah, the GBA port of the original Zelda—still holds up shockingly well for a game that’s basically ancient by now. You start with nothing but a wooden sword and that classic green tunic, wandering into caves where gruff old men toss you weapons like you’re supposed to know what you’re doing. (Spoiler: you don’t.)
The overworld’s deceptively open—no hand-holding here. You’ll stumble into dungeons way too early, get wrecked by bats, then spend an hour burning bushes just to find secrets. The pixel art’s simple but charming, and that dungeon theme still slaps. Just don’t expect waypoints or quest markers—this is pure, unfiltered "figure it out" energy.
It’s weirdly satisfying to map everything out on graph paper like we did in the ‘80s. That first time you hear the secret chime after bombing the right wall? Magic. Still one of the best ways to experience where the whole Zelda thing began.
