Okay, so Spider-Man: Battle for New York on GBA is exactly what you'd hope for—a solid little side-scrolling beat 'em up where you're swinging through Manhattan, punching thugs, and occasionally running into villains like Green Goblin or Rhino. The controls are simple (jump, punch, web-sling), but the real fun is in the little details—like webbing up enemies mid-combo or using environmental stuff to knock guys off rooftops.
It’s not super deep, but the levels move fast, and the sprite work actually holds up pretty well for a handheld game from this era. Some of the boss fights can be frustrating (looking at you, Doc Ok), but that just makes beating them more satisfying. If you ever played the old Maximum Carnage games, it’s got that same chaotic energy.
Honestly, it’s a great pick if you just want to zone out and feel like Spider-Man for an hour or two.
