GoldenEye on N64 is one of those games that just feels right—even now. You start off sneaking through the Dam level, silenced PP7 in hand, and within minutes you’re either going full Rambo or trying (and failing) to be stealthy like Bond. The controls take a second to get used to if you’re coming from modern shooters, but once it clicks, it’s pure chaos—especially in multiplayer.
Speaking of multiplayer, this is where the game really shines. Four players, split-screen, Oddjob banned by unspoken rule. The Facility map is still a nightmare in the best way, and nothing beats the panic of hearing someone pick up the Golden Gun. Single-player’s no slouch either, with missions that actually make you think before spraying bullets everywhere.
Yeah, the graphics are blocky now, but the tension when alarms go off or you’re racing to escape before the timer runs out? Timeless.
