Mario Party 3 is the N64 game that probably ruined more friendships than Monopoly. You start by picking your favorite Nintendo character—I always went with Wario because, let’s be real, he’s the funniest—and then you’re thrown onto these wild, gimmicky boards where every turn feels like a gamble. One minute you’re racing to collect stars, the next you’re getting screwed over by a random Boo stealing your coins.
The mini-games are where it really shines, though. Some are pure chaos (ever tried button-mashing your way through a tug-of-war?), while others take actual skill. The duel mode is a nice twist if you want to settle a grudge match one-on-one. Just don’t be surprised when someone rage-quits after losing a 50-coin bet on a game of chance.
It’s still one of the best in the series, even if your hands might hate you after those rotating-stick minigames.
