About Destruct Derby
Destruct Derby came out for the Nintendo 64 in 1995, developed by Reflections Interactive. It was one of the earlier titles for the console, arriving before many of the system's defining hits. You got it if you wanted something straightforward and chaotic to play with friends.
You control a car in an arena, and the goal is to be the last vehicle still running. You drive into other cars to damage them, and your own car accumulates damage with each hit. The signature mechanics are the realistic deformation of your vehicle, which affects its handling, and the ability to cause spectacular multi-car pileups. The pace is fast and unforgiving; a single bad crash can end your run. It feels raw and immediate, a simple game about causing as much mayhem as possible before you fall apart.
