Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon is one of those N64 gems that never got enough love. You start off as Goemon, this goofy blue-haired ninja with a pipe, running around feudal Japan—except it’s packed with robots, giant mechs, and weirdly catchy music. The first thing you’ll notice is how alive the world feels, with NPCs spouting ridiculous dialogue and towns full of hidden secrets.
Gameplay’s a mix of platforming, brawling, and puzzle-solving, and you eventually get a crew of characters with their own moves. Ebisumaru’s my favorite—dude throws coins and belly-flops enemies. And yeah, there’s a giant robot you pilot to punch castles. No, I’m not making that up.
It’s janky in that classic N64 way, but the charm’s undeniable. If you missed this back in the day, it’s still a blast—just don’t expect it to hold your hand.
