O.D.T. came out for the Nintendo 64 in 1998, published by Psygnosis. It was part of that wave of games trying to bring a more complex, almost PC-like style of fantasy adventure to the console. You don't hear about it much now, but it had a certain ambitious scope that felt different from other N64 titles at the time.

You control a character exploring a massive, interconnected tower, screen by screen. The main goal is to ascend this structure, which involves a lot of dungeon delving, solving environmental puzzles, and fighting monsters with a sword and a bow. Two mechanics stand out: you can possess certain enemies to use their abilities, and you need to manage three different characters, switching between them to progress. The pacing is deliberate, even slow, and the difficulty can be unforgiving with its cryptic puzzles. Playing it feels like piecing together a vast, lonely puzzle where every new floor brings a fresh challenge.
