Zelda No Densetsu - Mujura No Kamen, known as Majora's Mask outside Japan, came out for the Nintendo 64 in 2000. It was developed and published by Nintendo, arriving late in the N64's life when developers were pushing the hardware in new directions. This game followed Ocarina of Time, but it built a much stranger, more self-contained world.

You control Link, navigating the land of Termina not to save a princess, but to stop the moon from crashing into the world in just three days. The core loop involves resetting time with the Ocarina to relive those three days, carrying over your knowledge and key items while most other progress resets. You explore areas screen by screen, tackle dungeons filled with puzzles and bosses, and use tools like the bow and a variety of transformation masks that change your abilities. The time limit creates a constant, underlying pressure, making your choices feel significant as you manage side quests and main objectives. Playing it feels like carefully threading a needle against a looming, inevitable deadline.
