Super Mario 64 DS takes the N64 classic and squeezes it into your pocket—with some neat upgrades. You still run around Peach’s castle, jumping into paintings to hunt down Power Stars, but now you can swap between Mario, Luigi, Wario, and even Yoshi (who’s weirdly fun to play as). The touch screen controls take a minute to get used to, but the mini-games with the stylus are a nice distraction.
It’s the same chaotic platforming you remember—wall kicks, secret slides, that one annoying penguin race—just with sharper visuals and a few extra stars to find. If you missed this one back in the day, it’s a solid way to kill time on a bus ride. Just don’t blame me when you get stuck trying to 100% it.
