Man, Street Fighter 2 Lightning Edition on SNES still hits different. You boot it up, pick Ryu because you always pick Ryu first, and immediately get smacked by a Chun-Li player who somehow knows all the combos already. The speed’s cranked up just enough to make fireballs feel risky and jump-ins way more satisfying when they land.
What’s wild is how much personality each fighter has—Guile’s hair physics when he backflips, Zangief’s ridiculous spinning pile driver that somehow works every third try. The AI’s brutal if you’re rusty, but pulling off a last-second Dragon Punch to win feels like cheating fate. Still the best way to settle arguments with friends, even if someone always picks Blanka and spams roll attacks.
This version’s got that arcade-perfect chaos without the quarters. Just pure, unfiltered ’90s fighting glory.
