SaGa 3: Jikuu No Hasha is one of those Game Boy RPGs that feels way bigger than it has any right to be. You start off picking between four characters—each with their own weird little quirks—and suddenly you're hopping between time periods like some kind of dimension-hopping detective. One minute you're in a medieval castle, the next you're in a futuristic city with robots everywhere. The transitions are jarring in the best way.
The job system is where it gets interesting. Your party members can shift classes mid-game, but it's not just a simple menu swap. You actually have to find these weird alien-looking guys called "Esper Eggs" hidden in dungeons. First time I played, I wasted hours trying to turn my healer into a ninja before realizing I grabbed the wrong egg. Classic SaGa nonsense.
Combat's got that signature SaGa jank—sometimes your sword randomly does triple damage for no reason, sometimes spells fizzle out. But the maze-like dungeons and time-travel shenanigans make up for it. Just don't expect hand-holding. Half the fun is getting lost in 3000 BC with no clue how to get back. If you like RPGs that play by their own rules, this one's a trip.
