About Tetris (world)
I first played Tetris on the Game Boy in 1989, a version published by Nintendo. It was one of the games that came bundled with the system, and for many of us, it defined what that little gray brick could do. In an era of side-scrolling adventures and arcade ports, this was something different; a quiet, methodical challenge that you could take anywhere.
You control a series of geometric shapes, called Tetriminos, as they fall from the top of the screen. Your job is to rotate and shift them left or right to form solid horizontal lines. When you complete a line, it vanishes, and you earn points. The core mechanics are the rotation of these seven distinct shapes and the tense decision of where to place them before they land. The game starts slowly, but the pace quickens steadily, demanding faster reactions as the blocks pile up. The objective is simple: survive for as long as you can, chasing a higher score while trying to prevent the stack from reaching the top. Clearing several lines at once with a single, well-placed piece creates a small but genuine thrill. It feels like a constant, personal battle against a clock you can't see.
