Super Mario Land Game

Super Mario Land on the Game Boy is this weird little gem that feels like Mario took a vacation somewhere totally different. Instead of Bowser, you're up against this alien dude named Tatanga, and the levels have this oddball charm—one minute you're jumping on Goombas, the next you're dodging sphinx statues that shoot lasers. The controls are tight, but the physics are just slightly off from the mainline Mario games, which makes it kinda fascinating to play.
Oh, and the music? Absolute earworms. That main theme will stick in your head for days. It's short—you can blast through it in an afternoon—but there's something about its weird, experimental vibe that makes it way more memorable than it has any right to be. If you've only played the console Marios, this one's a fun detour.
