I picked up The Simpsons: Bart & The Beanstalk for the original Game Boy back when it came out. It was published by Acclaim, and it felt like a lot of other platformers from that time, a straightforward side-scroller you could play in short bursts. The game takes the basic Jack and the Beanstalk story and puts Bart Simpson right in the middle of it, which was a fun twist for a kid who watched the show.

You control Bart as he climbs the giant's castle. Your main goal is to rescue Maggie, who has been taken, by making your way to the top. You move screen by screen, jumping across platforms and using a slingshot to defeat enemies like birds and spiders. You also collect golden eggs, which act as both health and a currency for extra lives. The game moves at a quick pace, and some of the jumps require precise timing, making it a decent challenge. It feels like a classic, slightly tricky platformer from that era.
