Mortal Kombat Trilogy on N64 is basically the ultimate '90s fighting game nostalgia trip. You’ve got every fighter from the first three games—Scorpion, Sub-Zero, even weirdos like Stryker—all packed into one chaotic roster. The Fatalities are as ridiculous as ever (who doesn’t love watching someone get uppercutted into a pit of spikes?), and the controls feel just clunky enough to remind you it’s an N64 game.
First ten minutes? You’ll mash buttons trying to remember combos, accidentally trigger a Friendship instead of a Fatality, and probably lose to the CPU on medium difficulty because the AI cheats. But that’s part of the charm. It’s not the prettiest or smoothest MK, but if you grew up with arcade cabinets or sleepovers full of screaming over who got to play as Liu Kang, this one hits different.
Just don’t expect online play—this is strictly a couch-and-pizza kind of game.
