Metroid Disturbance (v3.5) on the GBA is one of those games that just feels right the moment you start. You wake up in Samus’ suit—no hand-holding, just a blaster and a whole lot of eerie alien corridors to explore. The first time I played, I got lost almost immediately, but in that good way where every new tunnel or hidden upgrade makes you feel like you cracked some ancient code.

The pixel art still holds up—those dimly lit caves and flickering lights give off serious isolation vibes. And the enemies? Some of them just lurk in the shadows, waiting to jump you when you’re low on health. Classic Metroid tension. The power-ups are scattered just right—finding a new beam or missile expansion after backtracking feels like a mini victory.

If you’ve played other Metroid games, you’ll recognize the rhythm: shoot walls, bomb floors, and pray you remembered where that one locked door was. But Disturbance throws in a few curveballs, like some brutal boss fights that’ll have you retrying until your thumbs ache. It’s the kind of game where you’ll pause just to plan your next move.

Definitely a must if you’re into that slow-burn exploration with a side of adrenaline spikes.
