About Megaman Battle Chip Challenge (e)(rising Sun)
I picked up Megaman Battle Chip Challenge on the Game Boy Advance back in 2003, a Capcom release that landed right in the middle of the platform's life. It was part of that wave of Battle Network spin-offs, focusing more on the strategic side of NetBattling than the action of the main series.
You don't directly control Megaman in real time. Instead, you build a folder of Battle Chips before a fight and then watch the battle play out automatically. Your main goal is to win tournaments by assembling the most effective chip combinations. The core mechanics involve deck building, setting up a program advance for powerful attacks, and managing your chip library. The pacing is methodical, centered on preparation rather than quick reflexes, and the difficulty comes from predicting opponent strategies and countering them with your chip lineup. It feels like a puzzle game disguised as a battle simulator.
