Megaman Battle Network 7 Lost Dimension (Demo 2) is a fan made game for the Game Boy Advance, released as version 0. It was developed by fans, not Capcom, the original publisher of the series. This project arrived long after the GBA's official lifespan, a time when dedicated communities kept the hardware alive through homebrew and extensive mods.
You control Lan and his NetNavi, Megaman.EXE, navigating both the real world and the cyberspace of the net. The main goal involves investigating a mysterious new network phenomenon, which requires delving into digital dungeons and fighting hostile programs. Signature mechanics include the classic Battle Chip system, where you build a custom folder of attacks and abilities to use in grid based combat, and the PET interface for managing Megaman outside of battle. The pacing is brisk, with random encounters keeping you on your toes, and the difficulty can spike during boss fights. Playing it feels like reconnecting with an old friend, but in a strange new jacket.
