About Megaman Battle Network 3 Blue Version (u)(independent)
Mega Man Battle Network 3 Blue Version came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2003, developed by Capcom. It was a solid entry during the GBA's peak, a time when portable RPGs were really finding their footing. You play as Lan, a kid navigating both his school life and the digital world of the internet, which is presented as a series of interconnected areas.
You control Lan in the real world, talking to people and advancing the plot, while the core action happens when you jack in to the net as his NetNavi, Mega Man. The main goal is to stop the WWW organization from causing global chaos. Gameplay splits between screen by screen exploration of the net, which feels like a maze, and frantic real time battles on a grid. You collect Battle Chips to build a custom folder, which acts as your deck of attacks and abilities for combat. A key mechanic is the Navi Customizer, a circuit board where you install program upgrades that permanently modify Mega Man's stats and grant new powers, though you have to fit the pieces together like a puzzle. The pacing is brisk, with frequent random encounters that keep you on your toes, and some of the later net areas can be quite challenging to navigate. It feels like solving a continuous, interactive puzzle where your strategic choices in and out of battle directly shape your success.
