Ghostbusters on NES is one of those weird, clunky-but-charming games that somehow works despite itself. You start by dumping all your cash into gear—traps, car upgrades, the works—while this ominous PK Energy meter creeps up in the background. The city’s basically a grid, and you’re scrambling to stop ghosts from reaching Zuul before things go full apocalypse.

When a block flashes red, it shifts to this janky driving section where you’re weaving left and right to suck up ghosts with your proton pack. Feels like playing an arcade cabinet with sticky buttons, but in a fun way. Then comes the real test: wrangling Slimer with two proton streams while trying to drag him over a trap. It’s way harder than it sounds, and half the time he just zips around like a greased-up balloon. The whole thing’s held together by that classic Ghostbusters vibe, though—even when you’re failing miserably, it still feels like you’re part of the team.
