Doraemon (japan) Game

Oh man, this is a real deep cut—Doraemon on the Famicom (Japan’s NES). It’s one of those early licensed games that somehow slipped under the radar outside Japan. You play as the blue robotic cat himself, running and jumping through simple but charming side-scrolling stages. The sprites are blocky, obviously, but they nailed Doraemon’s goofy expressions.
It’s not exactly a masterpiece—the controls are a little stiff, and some jumps feel unfair—but there’s something weirdly nostalgic about it if you grew up with the manga or anime. You’ll recognize gadgets like the bamboo copter and the anywhere door, though they work way more basically here than in the stories. Definitely more of a curiosity than a must-play, but Hudson put some heart into it.
Fun fact: This was actually the first Doraemon game ever made. That alone makes it kind of special.
