Transformers: Convoy no Nazo is one of those weird, janky NES games that somehow sticks with you. You play as Ultra Magnus or Optimus Prime (called "Convoy" here) in a side-scrolling shooter that feels like someone mashed up a Transformers cartoon with Contra but forgot to polish the controls. The first level throws you right into blasting Decepticons while awkwardly switching between robot and truck modes—turns out vehicle form is way faster, but good luck dodging anything.
It’s got that classic 80s anime aesthetic, complete with tiny sprites and explosions that take up half the screen. The difficulty spikes hard after the first couple stages, and the hit detection is… questionable at best. Still, there’s something charming about its sheer ambition—where else can you punch Soundwave in the face and then immediately transform into a semi-truck? Just don’t expect it to play fair.
