Final Fantasy Tactics A2 is one of those games that makes you lose track of time—just one more battle, one more quest, and suddenly it's 2 AM. You start as Luso, a kid who gets sucked into a fantasy world through a magic book (classic FF move), and before you know it, you're recruiting weirdos like moogles and bangaa to fight in turn-based skirmishes on a grid.
The job system is where it really shines—you can mix and match classes like dragoons, assassins, or even time mages to build your dream squad. I spent way too long tweaking my team’s gear and abilities between fights, but it pays off when you pull off some ridiculous combo mid-battle. The missions start simple, but later maps force you to actually think instead of just brute-forcing through.
It’s got that classic FF charm with chibi sprites and an orchestral soundtrack, but don’t let the cute look fool you—some of those late-game fights will wreck you if you’re not prepared. If you like tactics games with depth but don’t want something as punishing as, say, Fire Emblem, this is a great middle ground.
