Dragon Quest VI on SNES is one of those classic JRPGs that just nails the vibe—big world, weird monsters, and that perfect mix of exploration and turn-based combat. You start off as this amnesiac hero (of course) waking up in a small village, and within minutes you're already fighting slimes with a wooden stick. The monster designs are goofy in the best way, and the job system actually gives you some real choices—I remember agonizing over whether to make my healer a priest or a gadabout first.

The overworld theme still gets stuck in my head sometimes. There's something about the way the game splits between the "real" world and the dream world that makes exploration feel way more rewarding than your average RPG. And yeah, the story takes a while to get going, but once it does, you get all that classic Dragon Quest charm—weird NPC dialogue, tragic side characters, and a final boss that'll make you grind just a little longer than you planned.

If you've played any of the other SNES-era Dragon Quest games, this one slots right in with that cozy, slightly clunky 90s RPG feel. Just don't expect the QoL stuff from modern remakes.
