Contra Spirits on the Game Boy is basically the same brutal, run-and-gun chaos as the console versions—just crammed into that tiny green screen. You pick Jimbo or Sully (doesn’t really matter, you’ll die either way) and immediately get thrown into alien blaster hell. The first level tricks you into thinking you’ve got this, then suddenly you’re dodging missiles while riding one, and yeah, good luck with that.
It’s got that classic Contra feel—screen-filling bosses, spread guns that make you feel invincible for about 10 seconds, and a difficulty spike that’ll have you mashing buttons in panic. The Game Boy’s limitations actually work in its favor—somehow the simpler sprites make the chaos even harder to track. You’ll either love it or rage-quit before the second stage.
